Clerics Laud Adeleke’s Governance, Knock Election Rigging Threats

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has received commendation from prominent Islamic clerics who described his administration as exemplary, citing what they called his commitment to good governance and religious values.

The commendations were delivered during separate Ramadan lectures organised by the Ede chapter and the Osogbo state headquarters of the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT), attended by hundreds of Muslim faithful.

Speaking at the Osogbo NASFAT headquarters, Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abdul Razak Aduagba Al-Adabiy, described Adeleke as a leader whose performance in office has earned widespread recognition.

According to him, the governor’s developmental strides continue despite political challenges confronting his administration.

“Your good job speaks for you. Despite the attacks and challenges facing your government, you are delivering on all fronts. What you are doing represents true good governance,” the cleric said.

He added that the governor’s accessibility to the people and ongoing infrastructural projects have strengthened public confidence in the administration.

The cleric further prayed for the governor’s success, expressing optimism that his performance would speak in his favour ahead of future electoral contests.

At a separate Ramadan lecture in Ede, Sheikh Abdullahi Olorunlomerue, Chairman of the Olorunlomerue Islamic Foundation, warned politicians against electoral malpractice, declaring that any Muslim who vows to rig elections acts contrary to Islamic teachings.

He said, “Anyone fasting and at the same time planning to rig elections is acting against the will of God. Islam does not support violence, corruption or bad governance.”

The cleric stressed that religious devotion must be reflected in ethical conduct, urging political actors to uphold fairness and justice during elections.

Also speaking, the Political Adviser to the governor, Hon. Muniru Raji, defended Adeleke’s religious credentials, stating that the governor’s actions demonstrate practical commitment to Islamic values.

Raji listed initiatives undertaken by the administration, including the construction of a permanent Hajj camp, the building of a mosque within the Government House, and the constitution of a functional pilgrims’ welfare board for Osun State.

According to him, leadership should be judged by actions rather than claims, adding that the administration has taken concrete steps to support Muslim faithful in the state.

Governor Adeleke attended the events alongside top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, members of the State Executive Council, and other senior aides.

The Ramadan lectures formed part of activities aimed at promoting spiritual reflection and civic responsibility during the holy month.
