APC 2026 Convention: Oyebanji Heads Aspirants’ Screening Committee

Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has been appointed chairman of the aspirants’ screening committee for the 2026 national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oyebanji was inaugurated alongside members of the 42-man committee during a ceremony held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The committee is mandated to screen and verify aspirants contesting for various elective positions at the forthcoming national convention, in accordance with the party’s constitution, guidelines and relevant regulations.
Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State will serve as co-chairman, while former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, was named vice-chairman of the committee.
Also appointed is former Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda, who will serve as secretary, with the immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shuaibu, named assistant secretary.
Other members of the committee include serving and former lawmakers such as Orji Uzor Kalu, Gbenga Daniel, Ben Ayade, Osita Izunaso, Sarafa Alli and Uche Ekwunife, among others.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.
Meanwhile, the party also inaugurated several other committees to oversee different aspects of the convention. They include the screening appeal committee, election committee, venue committee, security committee, election appeal committee, finance committee, media and publicity committee, ceremonial, programme and events committee, delegates accreditation committee, protocol committee, accommodation and transportation committee, as well as entertainment and welfare committee.
In a related development, the APC recently extended the deadline for the purchase and submission of forms for its upcoming zonal congress and national convention.
Earlier in the month, the ruling party replaced Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, with former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Bello Masari, as chairman of the national convention central coordination committee.
