Wike Acknowledged for Boosting APC’s FCT Success Despite Not Being Party Member — Basiru

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his contributions to the APC-led federal government, despite not being a member of the party.
Speaking on TVC’s Beyond The Headlines, Basiru noted that the impressive infrastructural development across the FCT over the past two and a half years played a significant role in the party’s recent victories in local government elections.
He said the improvements were visible not only in urban centres but also in suburban communities, describing the minister’s performance as “sterling.”
Basiru highlighted that Wike’s effective administration, combined with the party’s strategic engagement and careful selection of candidates with proven political track records across different parties, was pivotal to the APC’s electoral success in the FCT.
He said:
“Wike is not a member of our party, but he works for an APC government led by President Bola Tinubu. When you consider the massive infrastructural development across the FCT, from urban areas to suburbs, it is clear that the minister’s sterling performance, alongside our party’s strategic engagements and candidate selections, contributed significantly to our victory in the local government elections. The delivery of democratic dividends under the present FCT administration cannot be separated from the APC’s success.”
Basiru’s remarks come amid growing discussions about cross-party collaborations and the role of non-party actors in supporting government initiatives.
