Zamfara Lawmaker Rejects APC Ward, LG Congress Results

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, representing Kaura-Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency, has rejected the outcome of the recently conducted All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward and Local Government congresses in Zamfara State, alleging widespread irregularities.
Addressing journalists in Gusau on Monday, Jaji described the exercise as a “child’s play,” claiming it was manipulated by certain individuals in collaboration with state and national party executives for selfish interests.
He alleged that some party members were denied the right to vote by officials sent from the APC National Headquarters, despite having duly purchased nomination and expression of interest forms through official party channels.
“The committee sent from National Headquarters of APC allegedly conspired with some members and other elements, abusing the dignity of APC members in my constituency and across Zamfara State,” Jaji said.
He further claimed that reports indicated the participation of individuals allegedly affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties, in violation of APC guidelines.
The lawmaker called on the Minister of State for Defence and APC leader in Zamfara State, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, to intervene and prevent what he described as a repeat of the 2019 internal party crisis in the state.
Jaji also urged the APC National Chairman and the National Working Committee to dissolve the state working committee and conduct a fresh, inclusive congress.
“We appeal to the committee constituted by the President to reconcile APC members to intervene and resolve the lingering crisis in the state,” he said, stressing the need for fairness, inclusivity and strict adherence to party rules.
