Former state and national legislators elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have pledged to throw their weight behind the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 8, 2026 election.
The commitment was made at the inaugural meeting of the National Forum of Former Legislators, held under the auspices of the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
Speaking at the event, Basiru, who represented Osun Central in the 9th Senate, said the former lawmakers, with their grassroots influence, were poised to ensure the party’s victory in the state.
He added that the forum would also mobilize support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Basiru said, “We are gathered here to strategize and ensure the triumph of our party in the August 8 gubernatorial election for our candidate, Bola Oyebamiji. Likewise, we will work for the continued success of our party in the 2027 general election for President Bola Tinubu.
“This is a congregation of individuals who have contested and won elections across various constituencies. They wield considerable influence at the grassroots and are well-positioned to drive our party’s success.”
The former lawmakers’ declaration marks a significant boost for Oyebamiji’s campaign, signaling a united front within the APC in Osun ahead of the polls.
