Sokoto APC Accuses Tambuwal of Abandoning Hometown, Urges Youths to Reject ‘Recycled’ Politics

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State has accused former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of neglecting his own community during his tenure.

The allegation was made at a stakeholders’ meeting of the APC in Tambuwal, where the party’s local government chairman, Isa Sadiq Achida, condemned Tambuwal for failing to deliver meaningful development to his home area.

Achida also criticised the former governor’s involvement in what he described as a political coalition, dismissing it as “a regrouping of familiar faces” rather than a new political movement. He appealed to residents, particularly youths, to support continuity under the APC instead of aligning with what he called recycled political interests.

The meeting also saw the formal reception of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including three former councillors, into the APC fold.

Representing the Local Government Chairman, Council Leader Nasiru Jabo reaffirmed the local leadership’s commitment to improving the party’s performance in future elections.

Adding to the optimism, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Ala, announced that the state government had approved the establishment of three new secondary schools in Tambuwal Local Government Area.

Meanwhile, the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Aminu Dikko, stated that several indigenes of Tambuwal had been appointed into political offices under the current administration. He dismissed speculations about personal political ambitions, insisting that he would adhere strictly to party decisions.

Efforts to reach former Governor Tambuwal for comment were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report. The PDP, through its spokesperson Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, said the party would respond at an appropriate time.
