The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has issued fresh operational guidelines for personnel assigned to the protection of Very Important Persons (VIPs), stressing professionalism, discipline, and accountability in the discharge of their duties nationwide.
The directive was contained in a statement released by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, Afolabi Babawale, from the NSCDC National Headquarters.
According to the statement, the Commandant-General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, delivered the charge during a three-day Leadership and Management Workshop on VIP protection held in Abuja for senior officers and specialised operatives.
Participants at the training included State Commandants, VIP unit commanders, and armourers drawn from across the federation.
Prof. Audi described the VIP protection mandate entrusted to the Corps by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a sensitive national responsibility that must be handled with utmost diligence and integrity. He cautioned that any act of indiscipline, abuse of privilege, or operational compromise would attract strict sanctions.
He maintained that the Corps’ leadership would not tolerate conduct capable of undermining the credibility of the assignment, warning that erring officers would be dealt with in line with established regulations.
The NSCDC boss further urged officers to carry out their duties in a manner that builds public confidence and projects a positive image of both the Corps and the government, noting that effective VIP protection requires tact, professionalism, and respect for civil authority.
