Borno Strengthens Judiciary as Acting Governor Swears In Six New High Court Judges

The Borno State Government has sworn in six newly appointed High Court judges in a move aimed at boosting justice delivery and restoring public confidence in the judicial system.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in Maiduguri, was conducted by the Acting Governor, Umar Usman Kadafur, who described the appointments as a strategic step toward improving judicial efficiency across the state.

Kadafur said the elevation of the judges forms part of ongoing reforms designed to modernise court processes and reduce delays in the administration of justice. According to him, the state has continued to introduce innovations such as electronic filing, digital case management systems, and access to online legal resources.

He charged the new judges to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, impartiality, and professionalism, stressing that the credibility of the judiciary depends largely on their conduct on the bench. He assured that the state government would sustain its support for reforms targeted at strengthening the justice sector.

In his remarks, the Chief Judge of Borno State, Justice Kashim Zannah, congratulated the appointees and described their elevation as a call to higher responsibility and service.

He emphasised that the judiciary must remain independent and committed to dispensing justice without fear or favour, urging the judges to fully embrace technology-driven reforms to enhance court efficiency and access to justice.

The event was attended by top government functionaries, senior judicial officers, and members of the legal community.
