Cubana Chief Priest Declares 2027 Reps Bid, Reaffirms Loyalty to Tinubu, APC

Popular socialite and nightlife entrepreneur, Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has officially announced his intention to contest a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

The celebrity businessman made the declaration via Instagram, stating that he will run on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a decision he described as deliberate, strategic, and rooted in his desire to wield influence at the federal level.

According to Cubana Chief Priest, remaining with the ruling party provides a stronger platform to advocate for key national issues, including the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

He explained his choice to stay within the APC despite the party facing opposition sentiment in parts of the South-East, noting that working from outside government limits one’s ability to effect meaningful change.

“I cannot help Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from the opposition. I have always been an APC. My father, Governor Hope, has worked hard on APC for me not to support him as DG renewed hope,” he said.

Addressing his previous support for Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in the 2023 elections, Cubana Chief Priest clarified that his involvement in the Obidient movement occurred while serving as Special Adviser to Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma. He stressed that his political alignment has since shifted decisively back to the APC, pledging loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s leadership.

“Last election, as special adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi, but this time I dey with Asiwaju,” he stated.

The socialite-turned-politician described his 2027 ambition as a conscious step from online influence to direct political engagement. He argued that the South-East needs younger, influential actors embedded within the system to effectively negotiate and advance the region’s interests at the federal level.
