The Kwara State Government on Tuesday condemned a brutal attack by bandits on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area, which left scores dead and several homes destroyed.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a statement issued by his spokesman in Ilorin, described the attack as a “cowardly assault on innocent civilians” and expressed profound sorrow over the loss of lives.
The governor noted that the attack appeared to be a desperate attempt by terrorist cells to divert attention from ongoing counterterrorism operations in the state, which have so far recorded significant successes.
“Governor AbdulRazaq extends his heartfelt condolences to the families affected and the communities of Woro and Nuku,” the statement read.
Security sources confirmed that several armed groups were involved in the raid, which saw homes set ablaze and residents attacked indiscriminately.
The state government reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to cooperate with security agencies to curb further attacks.
