APC Appoints Uzodimma to Head 73-Member Committee for 2026 National Convention

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State as chairman of the 73-member central coordination committee for its 2026 national convention.

A statement issued from the party’s national secretariat in Abuja and signed by Surajudeen Basiru, APC national secretary, and Sulaiman Argungu, national organising secretary, said the committee would oversee preparations for the party’s much-anticipated convention.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State was named vice chairman, while Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State will serve as secretary. Other members include serving and former governors, senators, members of the National Assembly, and senior party officials.

Notable figures on the panel include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, former APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, and former Kano Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. Also listed are Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Kaduna Governor Uba Sani, Katsina Governor Dikko Radda, Enugu Governor Peter Mbah, and Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri.

“The inauguration of the central coordination committee will be announced in due course,” the party added.

The APC also released a revised timetable for its ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses. According to the schedule, e-registration of members runs from January 31 to February 8. Ward congresses will hold on February 18, local government congresses on February 21, with appeals concluding by February 23. State congresses are scheduled for March 3, followed by zonal congresses across the six geopolitical zones on March 25. The national convention is fixed for March 27–28.

The party further announced fees for aspirants seeking party offices. Nomination forms for the APC national chairman position will cost N10 million, while forms for the deputy national chairman and national secretary positions are priced at N7.5 million each. Female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities will pay the expression of interest fee plus 50 percent of the prescribed nomination fees.

However, Ekiti, Osun, Rivers states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are exempted from ward, local government, and state congresses but will take part in electing three delegates to the national convention.
