Atiku Blasts APC Governance, Says ADC Is Nigeria’s Last Hope

 

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has delivered a scathing verdict on the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government, declaring that the party’s administration has inflicted more damage on Nigeria than the military regimes that ruled the country before 1999.

Atiku made the remarks on Tuesday in Abuja during the public presentation of The Loyalist, a book written by Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to the former vice-president, Nigeria is currently witnessing the worst form of governance he has experienced in nearly four decades of political engagement, stressing that the situation calls for urgent national rescue.

“Not even the military dictatorships before 1999 damaged our national life and collective consciousness the way this administration has done,” Atiku said.

He described the ADC as a coalition of progressive political forces drawn from across the country, united by a shared determination to reunite Nigeria and restore democratic values.

“Within the ADC, we have a unique opportunity. It is a convergence of political tendencies committed to renewing our democratic journey and rescuing this country,” he noted.

Atiku further disclosed that many of the political leaders present at the event were founding members of the APC, who had invested hope in the party as a vehicle for national transformation but were left deeply disappointed by its performance in power.

“Many of us here were part of the formation of the APC. Sadly, the promise we believed would rescue Nigeria has not materialised,” he said.

Calling on Nigerians to once again take responsibility for the country’s future, Atiku urged political actors and citizens alike to rally around a credible alternative capable of delivering good governance.

“Just as we once came together to build a political alternative, we must again unite to ensure the emergence of a new political organisation that can truly salvage Nigeria for the benefit of its people,” he added.

The event attracted prominent politicians, party leaders and stakeholders, further reinforcing ADC’s growing push to position itself as a formidable opposition platform ahead of future elections.
