The Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday rejected the confirmation of Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu as General Manager of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA).
The House cited serious procedural irregularities during Adelabu’s previous tenure as the reason for their decision. According to a statement released after plenary presided over by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, Adelabu had held the office of LASPA General Manager since 2021 without undergoing the constitutionally required screening process, a development the lawmakers described as illegal and unconstitutional.
“The nominee’s prolonged stay in office without legislative approval is a clear violation of our authority,” the statement noted.
Despite rejecting Adelabu’s nomination, the House screened and confirmed other nominees for key positions across state agencies.
Mr. Kehinde Durosinmi‑Etti was confirmed as Chairman of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, while Engr. Olopade Adekunle, Barr. Temitope George, Mr. Alexander Akinwunmi, Mr. Falola Olakunle, and Mr. Bello Wasiu Oladimeji were confirmed to serve in various capacities at the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
The Assembly’s decision underscores its commitment to ensuring procedural compliance and transparency in the appointment of public office holders.
