Yusuf Seeks Tinubu’s Backing on Security, Kano Projects

 

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he sought stronger federal support to tackle insecurity and accelerate key development projects in the state.

A statement by the governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the closed-door meeting centred on security challenges, major infrastructure initiatives and improved collaboration between Kano and the Federal Government.

Governor Yusuf briefed the President on the worsening security situation in parts of the state, particularly the recent killing of a housewife and her children, which has sparked public outrage. He stressed the need for decisive federal intervention to protect lives and property.

The governor highlighted the role of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps in complementing conventional security agencies and appealed for better coordination with federal security formations.

On infrastructure, Yusuf outlined his administration’s development agenda, with emphasis on ongoing mega projects designed to boost economic growth and job creation.

He commended President Tinubu for the Federal Government’s intervention on the Wujuwuju Road project, describing it as a strategic corridor that would enhance commerce and ease movement within Kano metropolis.

The governor also urged the President to fast-track other federal projects in the state to ensure Kano benefits fully from national development programmes.

Responding, President Tinubu assured the governor of his administration’s commitment to work closely with Kano State in addressing insecurity and promoting sustainable development.

The President reiterated that the Federal Government would continue to support states with genuine initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.
