Abiodun Reaffirms Support for Families of Fallen Heroes

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of families of military personnel who paid the supreme price in service to the nation.

The governor gave the assurance on Thursday during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration held at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. He was represented at the event by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele.

Abiodun said the peace and unity currently enjoyed in the country were products of the patriotism and sacrifices of fallen soldiers and veterans, stressing that they deserve lasting honour and support.

He described the annual Remembrance Day ceremony as a solemn opportunity for government and citizens to appreciate the courage of the armed forces amid prevailing security challenges.

The governor commended Nigerian troops for their professionalism, discipline and unwavering dedication, noting that their efforts had continued to guarantee peace and stability in Ogun State and across the federation.

“We do not take your sacrifices for granted,” Abiodun stated, adding that his administration would remain deliberate in providing support for dependants of deceased officers.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of departed servicemen and women and pledged sustained collaboration with veterans’ associations to enhance their wellbeing.

The ceremony featured a parade, wreath laying and special prayers for the nation and the armed forces.
