2027: Oke Camp Fires Back at Odeyemi, Says Politics Not Run by ‘Roadside Endorsements’

 

The political camp of Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke on Friday launched a blistering response to claims credited to former PDP chieftain, Diran Odeyemi, dismissing his recent intervention as “agitation borne out of lost porridge” and an attempt to substitute noise for due process.

In a strongly worded press statement issued on Friday by the Public and Media Communication Unit for the lawmaker, the Oke camp accused Odeyemi and his allies of staging what it described as a premature political jamboree designed to create an illusion of endorsement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The statement, titled “Politics Without Process: Setting the Record Straight on Diran Odeyemi’s Claims,” insisted that no political activity recognised by law or party regulations had taken place to warrant the excitement being displayed by certain interests.

“Has the party opened nominations? Has INEC released a timetable? Has the APC conducted primaries? If the answer to all these is no, then what exactly is he celebrating?” the statement queried.

The camp described a recent gathering in Imesi-Ile, which Odeyemi referenced, as merely a convergence of interests “lubricated by needs and dressed up as party structure,” stressing that endorsements outside laid-down procedures remained mere political press statements.

“APC is not run by roadside communiqués or political merchants of Diran’s spec, nor does INEC recognise infrastructure-driven endorsements,” the statement added.

Defending Oke’s political pedigree, the group noted that the lawmaker had survived over two decades of elections through credible mandates rather than imposition, accusing his critics of lacking similar electoral credentials.

“Wole Oke did not dance naked; he stood firm while opportunists danced around money. There is a difference,” the release stated.

The camp further took a swipe at Odeyemi’s background as a former PDP spokesman, saying it was ironic for someone associated with godfatherism and backroom deals to lecture others on internal democracy.

While urging calm, the statement declared that the immediate political focus remained the 2026 Osun governorship election, popularly referred to as AMBO, warning that internal disputes would be addressed only after external battles were won.

“Our eyes are on 2026. The fox is the enemy at the gate. When that business is concluded, the rats in the house will get their turn,” the statement concluded.

The development signals an early intensification of political hostilities within the Osun APC as gladiators position themselves ahead of the 2027 contest.
