2027: Okowa rallies Delta APC members to back Tinubu

Former Governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to close ranks and work assiduously for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Okowa made the call on Monday while addressing leaders and stakeholders of the APC in the Ika Federal Constituency at a meeting held in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.

The meeting was convened to brief party members on the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise of the APC.

Also present was the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

Addressing the gathering, Okowa said the calibre and number of party leaders in attendance should reassure members and dispel any fears about the party’s prospects in the constituency.

According to him, unity and collective effort would guarantee the party’s dominance across the 26 wards in Ika Federal Constituency.

“If we resolve, collectively and immediately, to work together, we can command political dominance across all the wards,” he said.

Okowa noted that Ika South and Ika North East Local Government Areas have a history of delivering strong electoral outcomes, adding that Delta State remains a model within the party.

“Our governor was the first to align openly and decisively with Mr President, and because of that, the eyes of the nation are on Delta State,” he said.

“The results from Delta will speak loudly across Nigeria.”

He warned party members against internal wrangling, stressing that disunity weakens the party and undermines electoral success.

According to him, victory in 2027 will depend on discipline, unity and coordinated execution at all levels of the party structure.

In his remarks, Morka announced January 31 as the deadline for the ongoing electronic registration exercise.

He warned that members who fail to register would be barred from participating in forthcoming ward, local government, state and national congresses.

“You cannot vote, and you cannot be voted for. This process is simple, guided and urgent,” Morka said.

He explained that the planned congresses would usher in new party leadership nationwide, stressing that registration was the gateway to participation.

Morka urged leaders to return to their wards and communities to mobilise members and strengthen the party from the grassroots.

“This is not the time for petty divisions or unnecessary suspicion. The APC is determined to take the Renewed Hope message to every corner of the country,” he added.
