Tinubu Sets Up APC Conflict Resolution Panel Ahead of 2027 Elections

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday inaugurated a Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation to tackle internal disputes within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The committee, which comprises state governors, members of the Federal Executive Council, and other party stakeholders, is expected to promote cohesion and inclusivity within the party.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, disclosed that the panel is chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, with Muiz Banire, former APC Legal Adviser, serving as member/secretary.

Other members include Senator Adamu Aliero, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum; Governor AbdulRahman AbduRazak of Kwara State, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum; Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State; Governors Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta).

Additionally, the panel features Governors Uba Sani (Kaduna) and Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

At the inauguration, Buni thanked President Tinubu for the appointment and assured that the committee would develop a “results-oriented strategy” to address grievances within the party. He stressed that personal interests must not override the committee’s objectives.

Buni, who previously chaired the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee between 2020 and 2022, said the panel would implement mechanisms to make all stakeholders feel included and secure a sense of belonging.

Earlier, at the APC’s 15th National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on December 19, President Tinubu underscored the need for party unity, reminding leaders that APC was founded on progressive ideals, broad participation, and respect for differing opinions.

“We must remain resolute that the democracy we hold must not fail. Being bigger, larger, and taller should now reflect in our hearts. Tolerance is the key to resilience,” the President said.
