Shehu Sani Condemns Maiduguri Mosque Bombing as Terrorist Horror

Former lawmaker and human rights activist, Shehu Sani, has condemned the bombing of a mosque in Maiduguri, describing the attack as a tragic reminder of the horrors of terrorism.

In a post on X, Sani called the incident “abominable” and expressed his sympathy for the victims and their families. He wrote:

“It’s tragic to receive the news of a bomb explosion at a mosque in Maiduguri that left scores of people dead. While awaiting the official report of the incident, this unfortunate and condemnable act once again reflects the evil and horrors of terrorism and the dangers it poses to all citizens irrespective of their identities and affiliations. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”

The explosion occurred on Wednesday at a Juma’at Mosque located in Gamboru Ward, near the Customs area of Maiduguri, Borno State. Reports suggest that the attack was carried out by suspected Boko Haram insurgents, who detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) while worshippers were observing the Maghrib prayer.

Authorities are yet to release the official casualty figures, but initial reports indicate multiple fatalities and injuries.

The incident comes amid growing concerns over continued terrorist attacks in the northeast, underscoring the urgent need for strengthened security measures in vulnerable areas.
