Kwara Fire Service Warns Residents Against Festive Fire Hazards

The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade Olumuyiwa, has cautioned residents to exercise heightened safety during the ongoing festive season to prevent fire disasters.

In a statement issued through the Service’s spokesman, Hassan Adekunle, Prince Falade urged the public to handle electrical appliances, gas cylinders, and cooking equipment with care. He warned against overloading power sockets and advised switching off unused devices to reduce fire risks.

He also stressed the need for caution with fireworks, open flames, and bush burning, urging that such activities should be avoided where possible. Residents were encouraged to immediately report any fire outbreak or emergency to the nearest state fire station for rapid response.

The statement read in part: “On behalf of the Authority and the entire staff of the Kwara State Fire Service, we extend heartfelt Christmas greetings to all officers and personnel of the service. We sincerely appreciate your dedication, bravery, and unwavering commitment to duty throughout the year. Your sacrifices in safeguarding lives and property are deeply valued.”

Prince Falade further prayed that the festive season would bring peace, good health, and joy to residents, while hoping the New Year would usher in greater accomplishments and continued success in service to humanity.
