Kano Assembly in Shock as Two Lawmakers Die Within One Hour

Kano State was thrown into mourning on Wednesday following the sudden deaths of two members of the State House of Assembly within just one hour.

The Assembly’s spokesperson, Kamaludden Shawai, confirmed the incidents to Patriotic Insights News.

Aminu Sa’adu, representing Ungogo Local Government Area, reportedly died on Wednesday morning after a brief illness. Shortly after, Sarki Aliyu, the lawmaker for Kano Municipal LGA, collapsed at the Assembly complex upon hearing of his friend’s death. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed his passing.

Shawai described the deaths as “an unprecedented tragedy” for the state’s political leadership, adding that the loss has left the Assembly and the constituents of Ungogo and Kano Municipal in deep shock.

“The two lawmakers were close friends, and their sudden departure has created a significant void in the legislature,” he said.

The Assembly is expected to hold a special session to mourn the deceased and discuss arrangements for their replacements.

The deaths are being described as one of the rarest and most shocking losses in the history of Kano’s legislative body.
