The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has introduced a credit facility for oil marketers and announced plans to commence free nationwide delivery of petrol, as it intensifies efforts to boost patronage and compete with imported fuel.
The initiative comes on the heels of a major price reduction. On December 12, the refinery slashed its ex-gantry price of petrol to ₦699 per litre, down from ₦828 — a ₦129 cut.
In a notice issued on Friday, the company invited petrol station owners and dealers across the country to register their outlets to benefit from the new pricing regime and delivery arrangement.
“This offer is available to all petrol station owners and dealers nationwide. Our free direct delivery service will commence soon,” the refinery said.
Further easing access to its products, Dangote Refinery disclosed in a follow-up notice posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday that the minimum purchase volume has been reduced from 500,000 litres to 250,000 litres.
The refinery also announced a 10-day credit facility for oil marketers, subject to a bank guarantee, in what industry watchers describe as an aggressive market-entry strategy.
Before the latest price adjustment, the company had earlier reduced its ex-depot petrol price from ₦877 to ₦828 per litre.
Speaking earlier in December 2025, President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, said the refinery would continue to review petrol prices downward in order to remain competitive and challenge fuel importers.
The Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest, is expected to play a critical role in stabilising fuel supply and pricing in Nigeria as domestic refining capacity expands.
