In furtherance of the Inspector-General of Police’s reform agenda, the Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, Emmanuel Ado, has directed the immediate deployment of strengthened security measures to schools, public facilities and vulnerable communities across the state.
The directive followed a strategic session he held with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, departmental heads and members of the Command’s management team.
At the meeting, CP Ado tasked DPOs and tactical units to draw up actionable security plans and deepen engagement with traditional rulers, community leaders, vigilante groups and neighbourhood watch teams to enhance grassroots intelligence and community protection.
“The Command remains unwavering in its duty to safeguard lives and property. We will sustain strategic policing interventions, particularly around schools and other sensitive locations,” he assured.
In a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the Police Commissioner stressed the need for stronger interagency collaboration, improved intelligence-sharing, early-warning systems and the activation of community-based security structures.
He further ordered intensified patrols, improved visibility policing, night deployments and rapid-response operations to forestall incidents of kidnapping, insurgency and other criminal threats.
CP Ado urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and volunteer timely information that could help maintain peace and stability.
The directive comes as Governor Mai Mala Buni recently approved the temporary shutdown of all boarding schools as a precaution against possible student abductions.
