BREAKING: Tinubu Forwards 32 Fresh Ambassadorial Nominees to Senate

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has transmitted a new list of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation, bringing the total number of nominations so far to 35.

The latest batch, conveyed in two separate letters to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, contains 15 career diplomats and 17 non-career nominees. The letters were accompanied by a statement released on Saturday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Among the nominees are several prominent political figures, including former INEC Chairman Mahmud Yakubu, former presidential aide Reno Omokri, former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode. Others on the non-career list include former Lagos Deputy Governor Otunba Femi Pedro, former Ekiti First Lady Erelu Adebayo, and ex-Plateau Senator Prof. Nora Daduut.

The statement noted that the list features four women on the career track and six women on the non-career list.

Also nominated are former Oyo First Lady Florence Ajimobi, former Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Ondo Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, and former Vatican envoy Amb. Paul Oga Adikwu.

The career nominees include Enebechi Monica Okwuchukwu (Abia), Yakubu Nyaku Danladi (Taraba), Miamuna Ibrahim Besto (Adamawa), Musa Abubakar (Kebbi), Syndoph Paebi Endoni (Bayelsa), Chima Lioma David (Ebonyi), Mopelola Adeola-Ibrahim (Ogun), among others.

According to the Presidency, the envoys will be deployed to key strategic missions, including China, India, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, UAE, Qatar, South Africa, Kenya, as well as global multilateral institutions such as the UN, AU, and UNESCO.

The nominees will receive their postings after Senate confirmation.

Last week, Tinubu had forwarded three earlier nominees — Amb. Ayodele Oke, Amb. Amin Dalhatu and Col. Kayode Are (Rtd.) — who are expected to be posted to the United Kingdom, United States, or France.

More ambassadorial nominations are expected in the coming weeks.
