Ghana Police Arrest Nigerian Suspect Over Killing of FRSC Official, Daughter

Ghanaian police have apprehended a Nigerian national, Victor Benjamin Fajemirokun, wanted in connection with the murder of a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Lasisi Funmilayo, and her daughter, Sewa, in Ogun State.

George Ohene-Boadi, Regional Commander of the Eastern South Regional Police Command, disclosed at a press briefing that the 36-year-old suspect fled Nigeria to evade arrest.

“The suspect was wanted by Nigerian authorities but fled to Ghana, where he was hiding with friends,” Ohene-Boadi said. “Upon receiving information that he was at a friend’s residence in Akutia, we launched an intelligence-led operation to arrest him in the Eastern Region.”

The victims reportedly travelled with Fajemirokun to Osun State on November 2. Investigations by Nigerian authorities suggest that the killings involved a group that included a self-proclaimed herbalist. Nigerian police have arrested two suspects in Osun and Ekiti states, whose confessions led to the recovery of the victims’ remains in a bushy area.

Ohene-Boadi confirmed that Fajemirokun is currently in police custody, and arrangements are ongoing to hand him over to Nigerian law enforcement. He also noted that Ghanaian police are cooperating fully with Nigerian counterparts to ensure the swift conclusion of the case.
