Cross River Withdraws Miyetti Allah Permit, Orders Security Clampdown

The Cross River State Government has revoked the cattle-movement permit earlier issued to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, stopping the group from transporting cattle across the state.

The initial permit had allowed the movement of cattle from Ebonyi State through Cross River to neighbouring Cameroon.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Commissioner for Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development, Hon. Emmanuel Anom, said the revocation takes immediate effect and overrides all previous approvals.

“The Cross River State Government hereby announces the cancellation of the movement permit earlier granted to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association for the movement of their cattle from Ebonyi State, across Cross River State, to Cameroon,” the statement read.

Anom directed all security agencies to enforce the ban, adding that no cattle movement of such nature must be allowed through the state henceforth.

“This cancellation supersedes the previously issued permit. All security agencies are to remain vigilant and ensure strict compliance,” he added.

The move comes amid rising security concerns in parts of the country and renewed calls for tighter control of cross-border movements.
