Tinubu Under Fire As Adeyanju Decries Rising Insecurity

Rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has berated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the escalating insecurity across the country, saying the President must take firm and urgent action or step aside.

Adeyanju’s criticism followed the latest attack in Eruku, a community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, where gunmen invaded the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) during service, killing two worshippers, injuring several others and abducting an unspecified number of people.

The assault occurred near a police station — a development Adeyanju described as a disturbing sign of the government’s inability to safeguard citizens.

In a statement on Wednesday, the activist said the unending killings nationwide have reached a level that can no longer be rationalised.

“The daily killings of Nigerians is beyond depressing. The attack on a place of worship shows clearly that no one is safe in this country,” he said.

He added that the proximity of the incident to a police formation underscores what he called government “inaction and unwillingness” to protect the populace.

Adeyanju urged the Federal Government to immediately overhaul the nation’s security architecture, confront terrorism and banditry with renewed vigour, and restore public confidence.

According to him, the administration can no longer express shock after each tragedy without delivering tangible solutions.

“President Tinubu must take decisive actions on insecurity or resign,” he said.

Adeyanju insisted that Nigerians have suffered too many tragedies under successive governments and deserve results, not excuses.
