PDP, ADC Knock FG over Kebbi School Attack, Decry Rising Insecurity

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday condemned the attack on Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, describing it as another proof that insecurity has become a daily reality for Nigerians.

Bandits had, in the early hours of Monday, invaded the school, killing the Vice-Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and abducting 25 female students.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said the tragedy reflected the alarming escalation of insecurity nationwide, accusing the Federal Government of prioritising politics over governance.

He said the Bola Tinubu administration must take full responsibility for its failure to protect citizens, lamenting that recent abductions across Nasarawa, Plateau, Kano and Katsina only confirm that the government has strayed from the hope it promised Nigerians.

Ememobong condoled with the bereaved family, the parents of the kidnapped students and the Kebbi State Government.

Similarly, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the attack as another painful reminder of the worsening security situation, warning the government against allowing the incident to become a repeat of the 2014 Chibok girls’ abduction.

He accused the Federal Government of ignoring repeated warnings on the need to confront insecurity with seriousness and urgency.

“A government that cannot secure its schools lacks the credibility to assure citizens of safety,” Abdullahi said.

He urged President Tinubu to ensure the immediate rescue of the abducted students, and called on security agencies to act with urgency, clarity and competence. He also advised the government to deploy all available intelligence assets and improve coordination among security formations.

Earlier, Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, announced that President Tinubu had directed security and intelligence agencies to swiftly locate and rescue the abducted students and bring the perpetrators to justice.
