The Elder Caucus (Igbimo Agba) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has directed all governorship aspirants under the party to pause the purchase of nomination forms for the 2026 election.
In a communiqué signed by the caucus chairman, Engr. Sola Akinwumi, on Friday, the body stated that a screening committee has been inaugurated to vet all aspirants ahead of the party’s primaries.
The statement urged aspirants to exercise patience and wait for the outcome of the screening process before acquiring the forms.
“The caucus received the report of its Adhoc Committee on the 2026 Osun Governorship Election today, the 14th of November, 2025, and resolved as follows:
“A Screening Committee has been set up and charged to expeditiously screen all gubernatorial aspirants within a defined time frame.
“All aspirants are advised to exercise patience in obtaining the prescribed forms until the Screening Committee submits its report to this body.
“All party stakeholders are urged to remain committed to the party,” the communiqué read.
Despite the directive, Senator Iyiola Omisore reportedly obtained his nomination form on Tuesday, while other aspirants are yet to do so, signaling his continued interest in the APC governorship ticket.
The directive comes amid growing interest in the APC governorship race as aspirants prepare for the 2026 polls.
