Oyedokun Decries Neglect of Inisa, Seeks Government Intervention

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, has lamented the absence of government presence in his hometown, Inisa, located in the Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State.

Speaking during the 34th Inisa Day celebration on Saturday, Oyedokun expressed concern that the community had continued to rely largely on self-help efforts to provide basic infrastructure, with little or no intervention from both the federal and state governments.

According to the former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who later joined the APC, the people of Inisa have sustained the town’s development through communal contributions and cooperation despite government neglect.

“This community is not only growing but developing. Unfortunately, we have not been seeing the impact of the state and federal governments in terms of physical development. Our people have that spirit of togetherness and have continued to do things by themselves,” he said.

Oyedokun noted that Odo-Otin Local Government remains one of the few councils in Osun that has not been split, yet it lacks significant government projects despite its population and size.

“All the secondary schools and health centres we have here were established through communal efforts. Our roads are in terrible condition, and we hope that with local government autonomy, the council will be able to rehabilitate rural roads. For now, we have not felt the impact of government at any level,” he added.

The APC chieftain appealed to the state and federal authorities to support the community’s development initiatives, particularly in the areas of education and infrastructure.

“Inisa deserves a tertiary institution. We need federal presence here. We urge both governments to complement the efforts of our people by investing in the growth and development of this town,” Oyedokun pleaded.
