The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what it described as one of the most transparent and credible governorship elections in the history of Anambra State.
National Chairman of the party, Sly Ezeokenwa, gave the commendation while reacting to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s victory at the polls held on Saturday, November 8.
Ezeokenwa said the conduct of the election demonstrated INEC’s growing commitment to electoral integrity and fairness, adding that the process was peaceful and devoid of irregularities.
“INEC deserves commendation for ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the process. Anambra has never witnessed an election as orderly and well-organised as this,” he stated.
The APGA chairman also praised the people of Anambra for maintaining peace before, during, and after the polls, noting that their civic discipline contributed greatly to the success of the exercise.
He further expressed appreciation to the media for their balanced coverage and professionalism in reporting the election.
According to the final results announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Soludo polled 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes.
Ezeokenwa congratulated the governor on his re-election, describing it as “a renewed mandate from the people to consolidate good governance in Anambra.”
