Fayose Slams Oyo Court Order on PDP Convention, Calls It ‘Judicial Comedy’

Former Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has condemned the order reportedly issued by an Oyo State High Court concerning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention, describing it as “a judicial and political comedy staged in Ibadan.”

Fayose, in a statement on Tuesday, said the ruling was an “ineffective and dead-on-arrival order” that neither the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nor any other institution could act upon.

“The judge only granted an order that is unenforceable. Even the most uninformed person in Nigeria knows that a State High Court lacks the power to act as an appellate court over the Federal High Court,” he said.

The former governor urged the National Judicial Council (NJC) to sanction Justice A. L. Akintola for issuing the ex parte order despite being aware of the October 31, 2025 judgment by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court on the same matter.

According to Fayose, judges who issue such orders “for political convenience” are the “bad eggs that must be flushed out of the judiciary.”

He added, “It is another show of desperation by those who have become undertakers waiting to bury the PDP. How can anyone approach a State High Court for an ex parte order on a matter already decided by a Federal High Court?”

Fayose maintained that the PDP had been “rescued from the hands of desperate elements” and expressed optimism that the party would recover under the new Acting National Chairman, Mohammed Abdulrahman.

“I am confident that under Abdulrahman, the PDP will begin the process of healing from the wounds inflicted by the political vampires represented by the Ibadan faction,” he said.
