The Omoluabi Caucus of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by the party’s Interim National Secretary and former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has zoned the Osun State governorship ticket of the party to Osun West Senatorial District ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Addressing members of the caucus at a meeting held in Ilesa, Aregbesola said the decision followed extensive consultations among critical stakeholders across the state. He explained that the zoning was aimed at promoting fairness, inclusiveness, and political balance within the party and the state.
Aregbesola stated that the caucus would present a single aspirant from the zone for the party’s consideration, but stressed that the contest remains open to all members of the ADC, including those outside the Omoluabi group. “No one will be denied the opportunity to contest. What we have done is to give direction and ensure harmony within the party,” he said.
He expressed satisfaction with the steady growth of the ADC in Osun, noting that more people from different political backgrounds were already joining the party. According to him, the unveiling of the party’s structures across all federal constituencies in the state will commence next week Tuesday.
The former governor also urged party members to actively participate in the ongoing membership registration exercise, adding that the ADC congresses and governorship primary have been scheduled to hold on December 12.
Aregbesola described the Omoluabi movement as a political family built on integrity, service, and people-oriented governance, saying the group had been consistent in pursuing value-driven politics since 2023.
He said: “Those who mocked us at the beginning of this journey now understand that our political relevance and commitment are driven by the genuine desire to serve our people. We are a party to beat in 2026 by the grace of God.”
A leader within the caucus, who preferred anonymity, lauded the zoning decision as timely and strategic, saying it reflects the principle of equity. “Zoning the ticket to Osun West is the right decision. It will strengthen the party’s unity and ensure ADC’s victory in 2026,” the source said.
Aregbesola, while expressing optimism about the party’s chances, assured members that the ADC is fully prepared to provide a credible alternative in Osun. “Victory is ours in 2026, Insha Allah,” he declared.
