We’ll Resist Any US Military Move — Fani-Kayode Warns Trump

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has issued a stern warning to the United States over recent threats of military action against Nigeria. The warning follows a statement by former US President Donald Trump, who directed the U.S. Department of War to prepare for possible intervention in Nigeria.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Fani-Kayode described Trump as a “tyrant” and a “sociopathic bully,” accusing him of attempting to intimidate Nigeria with threats of violence and invasion.

“Imagine a deranged and shameless tyrant threatening our country with military action. Nigerians will not run; we will stand our ground and fight,” Fani-Kayode wrote, responding to concerns from a friend about Trump’s remarks.

The former minister also condemned what he called Nigerians’ complacency and fear in the face of foreign intimidation, stressing that the situation underscores the need for strong and courageous leadership.

Fani-Kayode further accused Trump of selectively ignoring atrocities abroad while targeting Nigeria with the label of “genocide,” referencing the former U.S. president’s alliance with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump, in a post on his Truth Social account, had accused the Nigerian government of permitting the “genocide of Christians” and warned that the U.S. would halt aid and might intervene militarily to eliminate “Islamic terrorists” responsible for the killings.

“If the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to wipe out the terrorists,” Trump wrote. He added that any action would be “fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorists attack our cherished Christians.”

Fani-Kayode’s response signals a growing nationalist sentiment among prominent Nigerians, emphasizing the country’s sovereignty and rejection of external threats.
