Osun APC Blasts PDP Over Leadership Turmoil, Warns Voters to Be Wary

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised alarms over what it describes as the “topsy-turvy” state of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the ruling opposition in the state is in panic following recent crises at the party’s national level.

In a statement signed by the APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the party said the ongoing suspension and counter-suspension of principal members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) underscores that the party “has nothing positive or tangible to offer the people of Osun.”

The statement further alleged that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s hurried filing of his governorship nomination form at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday may have been prompted by a foreknowledge of the impending party crisis. APC also drew parallels with a similar governorship arrangement in Ekiti State, where one aspirant stepped down to pave the way for another.

According to the APC, the PDP Osun State chapter initially announced the suspension of all party meetings following what it called a brewing national leadership crisis, but later disowned the directive after realizing the extent of the internal upheaval.

At its 608th meeting on Saturday, November 1, 2025, the PDP NWC suspended four key national officers, including Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary; Hon. Umar Bature, National Organizing Secretary; Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, National Legal Adviser; and Barr. Okechukwu Osuoha, Deputy National Legal Adviser. In a swift response, a faction of the PDP led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, suspended the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, along with five other NWC members.

Commenting on the situation, the APC warned its supporters to be vigilant, noting that the PDP’s inability to manage its internal affairs calls into question its capacity to govern the state’s estimated five million residents. The party also described Governor Adeleke’s screening document submission as “no better than a waste paper,” given the current state of the PDP.

Concluding, the APC asserted that the PDP “has left the Intensive Care Unit and is slated for its final burial soonest,” bidding the party adieu.
