Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has urged the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, to take immediate steps to restore peace, unity, and direction within the party.
Fayose, in a statement on Saturday, said the PDP was in dire need of a new sense of purpose and urged the new helmsman to move swiftly in addressing internal grievances that have divided members.
“I congratulate the new chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, and urge him to unite the party and restore confidence among its members,” the former governor said.
He also called on the leadership to correct injustices and irregularities allegedly committed in some state chapters, particularly in Ekiti, noting that peace can only be achieved when fairness prevails.
“Most importantly, he should look into the shenanigans and injustices done in states like Ekiti and others, with a view to correcting them in line with the party’s constitution and court pronouncements,” Fayose added.
The former governor further advised Abdulrahman to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure a credible national convention that would produce a new National Working Committee (NWC).
“He should be a team player and ensure that the new NWC emerges through a valid national convention, to be conducted immediately after outstanding congresses are concluded and those done against court judgments are reviewed,” he said.
Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, the Sadaunan Takushara, assumed office as Acting National Chairman following the suspension of Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum.
