ADC installs interim exco in Adamawa, warns against indiscipline ahead of 2027

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has inaugurated a caretaker executive in Adamawa State to manage the party’s affairs pending the emergence of a substantive leadership.

The inauguration was supervised by the North-East Zonal Vice Chairman of the party, David Lawal Babachir, who said the interim structure was a collective decision by stakeholders to stabilise the party and reposition it for the 2027 general elections.

Babachir, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, under former President Muhammadu Buhari, disclosed that the set-up received the approval of the National Working Committee, NWC, after due consultations and in accordance with the party’s constitution.

He stressed that the caretaker team is “legitimate and products of due process,” warning that acts of indiscipline or defiance will not be tolerated. According to him, the National Chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark, has reaffirmed the party’s resolve to enforce its constitution, insisting that anyone opposed to its guiding principles “has no place in the ADC.”

He urged members to maintain harmony, noting that criticism is part of politics but “must not derail commitment to the party.”

In his acceptance speech, the new interim chairman, Barr. Sadiq Dasin — a former federal lawmaker and ex-Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly — thanked party leaders for the confidence reposed in his team and pledged to unite the party.

Dasin, who described his emergence as “a child of necessity,” promised to prioritise women and youth participation, announcing that 60 per cent of elective positions in upcoming congresses will be reserved for them “because of the critical role they play in electoral success.”

He further pledged transparent, fair and credible congresses going forward.
