PFN: Stop Killings Of Christians And Muslims, Avoid All-Out Genocide

National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke, has warned that Nigeria is facing a genocidal situation and urged government to halt killings of both Christians and Muslims across the country.

Oke, who spoke in an interview, said the protection of all citizens remains the foremost responsibility of government.

“Our position is that genocide exists, but it is not just about Christians. Whether Muslim or Christian, stop the killing — that is our priority,” he said.

The PFN leader noted that the body does not want a scenario where one faith community is targeted today and another becomes the target tomorrow. “We don’t want Muslims to die, and we don’t want Christians to die. What we want is that genocide is stopped entirely — whether among Muslims or Christians,” he added.

He said government exists for the welfare and security of the people and must act decisively to end bloodshed anywhere in the country.

The comment comes amid renewed foreign pressure on Nigeria following claims of “systematic persecution and slaughter of Christians” made by some influential voices in the United States, including lawmakers who urged US authorities to sanction Nigeria.

The federal government has denied any targeted persecution of a religious group. But the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) insists that Christian communities, especially in the North, have suffered heavy losses, including attacks on places of worship.
