The newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), on Thursday arrived at the commission’s headquarters to commence his duties.
Prof. Amupitan, who was earlier sworn in by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, touched down at the INEC Secretariat at 2:30 pm. He is scheduled to hold his first meeting with the commission’s directors to outline his agenda and priorities.
The development comes as the nation prepares for upcoming electoral exercises, with stakeholders looking to the commission for leadership and reforms.
Details of the meeting and statements from Prof. Amupitan are expected to be released in due course.
