Kwara State Government has assured residents of Ilorin that reconstruction works will soon commence on the Kilanko stretch at the Offa Garage axis and the Gaa Akanbi–Danialu–University of Ilorin corridor.
The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Qowiyu Olododo, gave the assurance at the third quarter inter-ministerial briefing in Ilorin, noting that engineers from the ministry had inspected the affected routes and were working on designs that include drainage solutions.
“Our engineers have been to Kilanko. We are reviewing designs that suit the terrain. Very soon, once a decision is made, residents will be duly informed,” he said.
He added that a similar design process is underway on the Gaa Akanbi–Danialu–UniIlorin axis, which has long caused hardship to motorists and adjoining communities.
Olododo disclosed that the present administration has delivered over 300 kilometres of roads since 2019, but urged communities — particularly in the state capital — to formally notify the ministry about bad roads for inclusion in subsequent intervention plans.
“There are many roads that need attention and we cannot identify all of them at once. Communities should reach out so we can take appropriate action,” he said.
The commissioner reaffirmed the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration’s resolve to deepen infrastructure renewal and ease transportation across the state.
