Presidency Commends EFCC’s Reforms, Urges Sustained Anti-Graft Drive

The Presidency has lauded the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its steady transformation into a world-class anti-graft institution, urging the agency to sustain its reform momentum.

The Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination and Head of the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU), Hadiza Bala Usman, gave the commendation when she led a delegation to present the EFCC Performance Charter to the Commission’s Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

Hadiza praised the EFCC for its remarkable institutional growth since inception, noting that the Commission’s evolution over the years stands out among public institutions in Nigeria.

“You should be proud of what you have built. The EFCC has grown remarkably since 2000 — few organizations in Nigeria have achieved such transformation,” she said.

“Each visit to the EFCC reveals visible progress and improvement. This is to say well done; keep up the good work. We are proud of what you are doing as Nigerians.”

She explained that the Performance Charter was developed through extensive engagement with governance experts and the technical support of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) under its Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Engagement (PACE) programme.

According to her, the document provides a framework for monitoring, evaluating, and improving the EFCC’s performance, both locally and internationally.

“The Charter outlines baseline data for monthly, quarterly, and annual assessments. It aligns with the EFCC’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives, ensuring accountability and transparency across all departments and zonal offices,” she said.

Hadiza added that the Performance Charter also defines key performance indicators (KPIs) to track departmental contributions to the Commission’s overall objectives, stressing the importance of staff engagement in validating and finalizing the document.

“We will hold a validation session with EFCC staff to review the document and ensure it reflects their input,” she added.

The Performance Charter, she said, will strengthen transparency, accountability, and informed decision-making in the EFCC’s operations, positioning the agency for better global benchmarking and improved service delivery.
