PDP Condemns Attack on Isokan Residents, Calls for Arrest of Bola Oyebamiji’s Supporters

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned what it described as a “shameful and reckless” attack on residents of Isokan Local Government Area by supporters of Bola Oyebamiji during his recent political gathering in the area.

In a statement issued by the State PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the party accused Oyebamiji, a federal appointee, of abandoning his national responsibilities for “needless political brigandage” in Osun.

“It is most unfortunate that a man entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring safety, development, and modernization of Nigeria’s inland waterways has completely derailed,” Hon. Bisi said. “Instead of focusing on his federal duties, he now traverses Osun communities, causing chaos and endangering lives in pursuit of selfish ambitions.”

The PDP linked the violent incident in Apomu, which left several residents hospitalized, to Oyebamiji’s alleged mobilization of thugs and his penchant for political showmanship. The statement also referred to his visit to Akinlalu the previous day, describing his engagement with the monarch there as “another empty promise in his usual manner of deceit and political theatrics.”

Hon. Bisi further said such conduct was “unbecoming of a federal appointee” and “a gross embarrassment to whoever he thinks he represents.” He urged security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to investigate the attack and ensure that all perpetrators, regardless of status, are brought to justice.

The PDP also issued a warning to the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), cautioning against any attempts to destabilize the state for political gain. “We will not allow Osun to become a battlefield,” the statement read. “Under Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, our state enjoys peace and responsible governance, and no desperate politician will be allowed to truncate that.”

Hon. Bisi called on residents of Isokan and the wider Osun populace to remain calm while security agencies carry out their duties, reaffirming the PDP’s commitment to peace, justice, and citizen protection.

“Osun belongs to all of us, and we will not permit any individual, no matter how connected, to sow seeds of chaos in our peaceful land. Bola Oyebamiji and his cohorts must be reminded that the era of impunity is long over,” he concluded.
