The Mayor of Blanco City in Texas, United States, Mike Arnold, has criticised Nigeria for rejecting America’s comments on terrorism while still seeking financial assistance from the country.
Arnold, a Republican, expressed his displeasure during an interview on Prime Time, a programme aired on Arise Television on Monday.
He said it was contradictory for a resource-rich nation like Nigeria to depend on external help to solve internal security challenges.
“I don’t understand why a nation that is mineral-rich as Nigeria has to go and beg for help to save her own people,” he said.
According to him, Nigeria possesses sufficient natural and human resources to restore stability and provide for displaced citizens affected by insecurity.
“Displaced people are denied stability, their homes are bulldozed with no warning. It is horrific,” he lamented.
Arnold added: “You don’t want America to speak on terrorism, yet you want our money. That doesn’t make sense to me whatsoever.”
