Ahead of his anticipated defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, some members of the Enugu State Executive Council (Exco) on Monday publicly pledged their support for Governor Peter Mbah.
A video circulated online by the governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Mainstream Media, Mr. Dan Nwomeh, captured the show of solidarity. In the accompanying message, Nwomeh stated: “Government House has realigned and connected to the centre. APC! Progress! Tomorrow is here!”
Prominent figures seen in the video included the Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Engr. Lawrence Ezeh; Chairman of the Science, Technical, and Vocational Schools Management Board, Dr. Amaka Ngene; and the Commissioner for Labour and Employment, Dr. Felix Nnamani.
Meanwhile, the Enugu State chapter of the APC has dissolved all its ward executives. Announcing the move, the newly inaugurated Caretaker Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, said the decision followed directives from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) after consultations with key stakeholders at national and state levels.
According to Nwoye, “This dissolution is not a punishment; rather, it is a strategic move to rebuild the APC in Enugu State from the ground up. We want a party structure that truly represents the interests of our members — one that is inclusive, transparent, and accountable.”
The development comes amid heightened political activity in the state, with stakeholders closely monitoring the governor’s next political steps.
