The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of condoning high-level corruption, alleging that a female Permanent Secretary implicated in the embezzlement of over N300 million is being shielded from prosecution.
In a statement signed by the APC State Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the party claimed that some political office holders are exploiting administrative loopholes to siphon funds from their ministries and workstations.
The APC questioned why the Adeleke government, which claims to uphold accountability and the rule of law, is allegedly treating the corruption case against the Permanent Secretary discreetly, reportedly allowing her to repay the misappropriated funds rather than face prosecution.
“Why is the government afraid to prosecute the indicted Permanent Secretary by referring her to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)?” the statement asked.
The party urged both the police and the EFCC to intervene immediately to ensure justice is served. The statement further alleged that the Permanent Secretary is the wife of a prominent serving commissioner in the state, and covering up her alleged crimes, according to the APC, is a serious blemish on the Adeleke administration.
The APC called for urgent government action to demonstrate a commitment to transparency and anti-corruption measures.
