Abia Govt Urges Citizens to Pay Taxes Promptly to Boost Development

The Abia State Government has appealed to residents to show greater commitment to the state’s development by paying their taxes promptly.

Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Kenneth Kalu, made the appeal yesterday when he received members of the Old Students Association of Triumph Vocational College, Asaga Ohafia, led by Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoko, member representing Ohafia South Constituency, at the Government House, Umuahia.

Kalu noted that the administration of Governor Alex Otti remains focused on transforming the state through sustained infrastructural renewal and youth empowerment.

He listed some of the administration’s achievements, including the construction and rehabilitation of key roads across urban and rural areas such as Ohafia, and the successful training of 1,000 youths under the Abia Leadership Academy aimed at promoting good leadership and employability skills.

The SSG commended the association for its visit, describing it as a show of unity and solidarity, and assured them of government’s readiness to continue building “a better and more prosperous Abia.”

In his remarks, Hon. Nwoko said the visit was to felicitate with their former classmate on his appointment and to commend his role in supporting the Otti administration.

He prayed for God’s wisdom to guide him in discharging his duties effectively.
