The Osun State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has faulted the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, for allegedly ignoring the ongoing strike by judicial workers.
In a statement issued by the state Chairman of JUSUN, Comrade Idris Adedayo Adeniran, following the union’s State Congress on Monday, the union described the Chief Judge’s absence on the first day of the strike as “egregious” and a demonstration of disregard for staff welfare.
“The Congress vehemently condemns the Honorable Chief Judge’s indifference to the ongoing strike. Her abrupt departure from the state on the strike’s commencement day, coupled with her failure to engage the union leadership, underscores her apparent disregard for judiciary staff welfare,” the statement said.
JUSUN commended its members for their discipline in observing the strike and warned that no staff should report to work without the union’s permission. It also announced that all financial transactions in judiciary accounts would be suspended, except for judges’ salaries for September, cautioning that unauthorized withdrawals would not be tolerated.
As part of efforts to resolve the dispute, the union revealed that a meeting had been scheduled with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Osun State chapter, on Friday, October 10, 2025, to discuss the issues that triggered the strike.
Chairman Adeniran reiterated the union’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of judicial staff, urging members to maintain unity and discipline throughout the industrial action.
