Adeleke Pledges Swift Justice Over Akinlalu Killings

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has promised to bring to justice those responsible for the killing of seven residents in Akinlalu town, following widespread outrage over the tragic incident.

The governor made the assurance through the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, during a government delegation’s visit to the town on Monday. The visit was aimed at assessing the situation and providing immediate reassurance to the grieving community.

According to Alimi, the Adeleke administration condemns the killings and is committed to upholding law and order. He stated that the government would ensure a thorough and transparent investigation, emphasizing that criminality would not be tolerated under his leadership.

Alimi also acknowledged the role of bloggers, including Oriyomi Hamzat, whose voices have highlighted the plight of the Akinlalu community.

Representatives of security agencies, including the Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gothan, disclosed that three suspects had been apprehended and are currently in detention at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Osogbo. The Commissioner assured residents that the remaining perpetrators would be swiftly brought to justice.

The Attorney General, Barr. Jimi Bada, expressed sympathy to the affected families and warned that those found guilty would face severe penalties, including imprisonment or death.

Oba Oloyede Aborisade, the monarch of Akinlalu, described the incident as “extremely painful” and urged the government to ensure justice and provide compensation to the victims’ families. Similarly, youth leader Adeboye Musbau called for immediate government intervention, stressing the need for thorough investigation and support for affected families.

Barr. Samuel Ojo, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Security, appealed for calm among residents while assuring them of justice. The delegation also included officials from various government departments and security agencies, including the DSS, Army Engineers, NDLEA, and the Civil Defense Corps.

The government’s prompt response has been welcomed by the people of Akinlalu, who are eager to see justice delivered.
