Kwara APC Elders Mourn Victims of Bandit Attacks, Applaud Government’s Security Measure
The Kwara State Elders Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed profound grief over the recent violent attacks in parts of Kwara North and South Senatorial Districts that claimed multiple lives.
In a condolence message, the forum sympathised with the families of the victims, particularly the people of Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area, where 12 vigilante members were reportedly killed by suspected non-state actors.
The elders also commiserated with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over the persistent security challenges affecting residents across the two senatorial zones.
In a joint statement signed by the Caucus Chairman, Kunle Sulyman, and Secretary, Hon. AbdulMumini Katibi, the group commended the governor’s proactive measures to tackle insecurity. The statement highlighted the recruitment of about 2,700 Forest Guards, enhanced support for vigilante groups, the inclusion of local security operatives in the State Health Insurance Scheme, ongoing stakeholder consultations, and collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) as evidence of a deliberate strategy to protect lives and property.
The APC elders urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, while calling on the federal government to continue supporting state efforts to restore peace and stability in the affected communities.
