Tinubu in Plateau: President Reaffirms Commitment to Peace, Unity and Religious Harmony

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during a historic visit to Plateau State on Saturday, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to national unity, religious tolerance, and peace across the country.

The President, who met with Christian leaders at the Church of Christ in Nations headquarters in Jos, also paid tribute to the late Nana Lydia Yilwatda Goshwe, mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, describing her life as one of faith and service.

Speaking to the gathering, Tinubu assured Christian communities in northern Nigeria that his government remains dedicated to fairness, inclusivity, and the protection of all faiths.

“I have a mission to unite this country and ensure its prosperity, and we are making progress,” he said, according to a statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The President also drew from his personal life to stress religious tolerance, noting that while he comes from a strong Muslim background, he married a Christian pastor without expecting her to change her faith.

“Leaders have a collective responsibility to manage religious issues for the benefit of all Nigerians,” he added.

Sunday Dare, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, described Tinubu’s visit as a moment of reconciliation and reconnection with the people of Plateau.

“President Tinubu’s address in Jos was delivered with the authority and warmth of a father of the nation, a lover of peace, a tolerant Muslim, and a Commander-in-Chief,” Dare said. “Jos Plateau State was lit! The streets were alive with his name, reflecting public vindication and reconciliation.”

The Presidential aide further noted that the visit underscored Tinubu’s passion for security, faith, peace, and the national destiny of Nigeria.
